ATM, or Asynchronous Transfer Mode, is a high-speed transmission technology intended for the delivery of high bandwidth, low-delay and connection-oriented applications. ATM services are a key “enabling” technology based on fast packet switching technology that are ideal for high-bandwidth, data intensive users, who have bursty, on-demand, time-sensitive or network transmission reliability requirements. ATM delivers important advantages over existing LAN and WAN technologies, including more efficient usage of bandwidth, finer granularity and higher performances.
Telmex ATM Service is built on the Telmex domestic and international ATM backbone ((Intra-region and Intra-Country), providing seamless regional, end-to-end connectivity.
The service is currently available between the United States and Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Peru as well as between these countries and intra-country .
Several classes of service and a range of traffic parameters are supported on a per PVC basis. This provides customers with flexibility in choosing the PVC most suited to their traffic requirements.
The Telmex ATM Service supports native ATM interfaces to customer-provided unbundled equipment. Where service is delivered via Telmex POPs, customers may choose an “In-Region” bundled service solution.
